Uzbekistan tightens control over beverage imports and production

The Republic of Uzbekistan is continuing an active process of digitalizing the consumer market and bringing goods turnover out of the shadow economy. According to current official data, as of 1 July 2026 the database of the National Catalogue of marked products has reached 128,700 registered product items.

Today, the introduction of digital barcodes covers an ever‑growing number of participants in the logistics chain. A total of 1,097 local manufacturing enterprises, as well as 3,495 importing companies, have already been successfully connected to the national traceability system.

Impact on the food market and exporters

Although the overall statistics of the catalogue also include non‑food products, the key driver behind the development of the Asl Belgisi system is the segment of liquid food products. The following categories of the food sector are subject to mandatory digital marking in Uzbekistan:

  • Drinking and mineral water
  • Sweet soft drinks, both carbonated and still
  • Brewing products and strong alcoholic beverages
